Unblocked connects to your source code and the systems around it to answer questions about your codebase. This page gives a high-level view of what data Unblocked accesses, how it’s protected, and how you stay in control of it.
The Unblocked trust center is the most up-to-date source for our security posture. Visit it to review current certifications and to request detailed documentation, including our SOC 2 report and security whitepaper.

What data Unblocked accesses and stores

When you connect a repository or another data source, Unblocked ingests and indexes that content so it can answer questions about it. Unblocked keeps its index up to date automatically, and every answer includes cited sources so you can trace a response back to the original code, document, or conversation. Your data is used only to answer questions for your organization, perform code reviews, and answer agents via MCP or the CLI. Removing a repository or integration immediately removes all associated data from Unblocked, and deleting your account removes your data entirely.

How your data is protected

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and access across Unblocked’s systems is secured with customer-specific encryption keys, so one customer’s data is never exposed to another. Unblocked is SOC 2 Type II, CASA Tier II, and GDPR compliant — see the trust center for current certifications, compliance details, and data residency questions.

Access control

Unblocked doesn’t override the permissions you’ve already set up in your connected tools. Data Shield enforces those permissions inside Unblocked, so a user only sees answers built from source material they’re already authorized to access in GitHub, Slack, Confluence, Jira, and your other connected systems.

AI and your data

Your code, documentation, and questions are never used to train or fine-tune AI models — not by Unblocked, and not by the third-party model providers Unblocked relies on to generate answers and reviews. Your data is never used to improve another organization’s Unblocked instance.

Deployment options

Most teams use Unblocked’s standard cloud-hosted service. Enterprise customers who need to keep Unblocked inside their own infrastructure can use an on-premises deployment. See Unblocked plans.
