Developers often use multiple systems and tools. For example, a developer might have a GitHub account for source code, a Jira account for issue tracking, use Slack for team communication, and refer to documentation on platforms like Confluence, Notion, or Google Docs. For Unblocked to give you personalized answers, it needs to recognize your identity across these different systems.

What is Identity Linking?

Identity linking is the process Unblocked uses to safely consolidate your accounts from different systems. This allows Unblocked to understand who you are across multiple platforms.

Why is Identity Linking Important?

When you ask Unblocked questions like “What are my open pull requests?” or “What are my open issues?”, it needs to identify you across various systems to provide accurate, personalized responses. With your user accounts linked, Unblocked can also take into account the parts of the codebase you most frequently work on, to give you a response that’s more tailored to your work.

You can link your accounts in the Unblocked app by following these steps:

1

Go to Settings

In the left sidebar, click on Settings.

2

Go to User Accounts

Under Personal Settings, select User Accounts.

3

Link Your Accounts

Click the Link my account button next to each system you want to link. You will be directed to the service you selected. If you are not already logged into that system, you’ll be prompted to authenticate.
