When you connect Unblocked with your Microsoft SharePoint sites, you’ll provide Unblocked with important context on how and why your codebase works. Most importantly, Unblocked will be able to use the details in your SharePoint sites to answer questions you ask it, and it will provide links back to the documents and pages that it used for easy reference.

Connect your Microsoft SharePoint site

A Microsoft SharePoint admin is required to connect your site to Unblocked.
Whether you sign in with a source code manager or your SSO provider, you first need to authenticate to Unblocked. Once you’ve signed in, click Settings in the sidebar, then Data Sources. Click Connect Another, scroll to the documentation section, and select Microsoft SharePoint. You’ll then be redirected to Microsoft and asked to authorize your account with Unblocked. SharePoint-authorize Once you grant Unblocked access to your SharePoint site, you’ll be redirected back to Unblocked and prompted to select sites to share with Unblocked.

Selecting your sites

You have the option to grant access to specific sites for Unblocked to index and search. You will be best served by adding all sites, but you can restrict the scope depending on your team’s needs. Using Data Shield, you can also set access permissions that determine which content in your SharePoint sites will be used in Unblocked’s answers. SharePoint-sites Once you click Save Settings, Unblocked will begin referencing the documents and pages in your SharePoint sites in its answers.

Troubleshooting

Non-admin users cannot connect SharePoint

If you’re not a Microsoft SharePoint admin, you’ll see an error screen when trying to connect your SharePoint site to Unblocked. SharePoint-non-admin-error To resolve this, contact your Microsoft SharePoint admin and ask them to either:
  • Connect the SharePoint site to Unblocked themselves, or
  • Grant you admin permissions so you can complete the connection
