# What is Unblocked?

> Helpful answers about your codebase

Unblocked helps you find accurate answers about your application by augmenting your source code with context from [GitHub](/data-sources/github), [Slack](/data-sources/slack), [Confluence](/data-sources/confluence), [Linear](/data-sources/linear), and [more](/configuring-data-sources).

When you have a specific question about your codebase, you can ask [Unblocked directly](/unblocked-chat/asking-questions), whether you're working [on the web](/using-unblocked/on-the-web), [on your Mac](/using-unblocked/on-your-mac), or [in your messaging platform](/using-unblocked/in-messaging-platforms). Unblocked will provide you with an answer that takes into account the specifics of your code, your internal discussions, and your documentation. Answers always include [links to the references](/unblocked-chat/cited-sources) Unblocked consulted so you can explore them more deeply as needed.

Unblocked's [security model](https://getunblocked.com/security/) means that only your team has access to the model used for generating answers to your questions. Your code, documentation, and questions to Unblocked will never be used to train another organization's Unblocked instance.

## Getting started

Getting started with Unblocked is straightforward. You will need to provide Unblocked with [access to your source code](/connecting-source-code), the [systems that surround your code](/configuring-data-sources) — like your messaging platform, your issue tracker, and your documentation system — and then [invite your team](/inviting-users) to use it. After Unblocked has ingested all of the material you need it to know about, you can begin [using the platform](/unblocked-chat/chat-overview).
